Our homemade Frosty tastes just like the real deal and is easier than going to a drive-thru. It’s soft and super creamy with the super small ice crystals that put the Frosty in an entirely different category than ice cream or milkshakes. Serve it to the kids for a treat or at your next backyard cookout.

Tips for Making Frostys

  • Freeze the mixture in the ice cream machine until mostly frozen but still a little slushy. If you accidentally over-freeze the mixture, don’t worry! Just wait for it to melt a little.
  • The sweetened condensed milk gives this frosty its fine-grained texture and smoothness. You can make your own if you’d rather not buy the stuff at the store.
  • If you have an ice cream maker with a freezer bowl, you will probably only be able to churn half of this recipe in one day, as the bowl needs lots of time to re-freeze after being used. If you have an ice cream make with a compressor or you use a bucket-style ice cream maker, you can make one batch right after the other.

Ingredients

  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

  • 1 (8-ounce) container whipped topping

  • 2 quarts chocolate milk

Steps to Make It

  1. Gather the ingredients.

  2. Stir together the sweetened condensed milk and whipped topping in a large bowl to combine.

  3. Gradually whisk in the chocolate milk until well blended.

  4. Pour half of the mixture into an ice cream maker and freeze until mostly frozen but still a little slushy. Refrigerate the remaining mixture until the first batch is complete or up to 1 week.

  5. Serve the first batch immediately with a straw and a spoon. Repeat the freezing process when ready to prepare the remaining frosty mixture.

How To Store

Frostys are best right after they're made, but leftover frosty can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 1 month. When ready to serve, break up the frozen-solid frosty into smaller pieces and place them in a food processor. Process until smooth and slushy and serve right away.
