Have you ever found yourself craving dessert, but really just a bite? These apple pie bites are the solution. If you aren’t up for baking a whole apple pie, these quick and easy bite-sized treats will satisfy your sweet tooth.
Normally, if you are gearing up to bake a whole apple pie, you have to prepare and chill the crust, peel the apples, make the filling, and then wait for at least an hour for it to come out of the oven. When you make apple pie bites, there’s no need to peel the apples and you can use ready-to-bake ingredients to speed up the process.
All you need to do is cut a ready-made pie crust into strips and coat them with cinnamon and sugar. Wrap the strips around tart apple slices and bake until golden. That’s it. For a real treat, you can even serve apple pie bites with caramel sauce for dipping. Or maybe even alongside a small bowl of vanilla ice cream.

1 sheet refrigerated pie crust

2 tablespoons firmly packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

1 medium tart apple, such as Granny Smith

1 tablespoon granulated sugar

Steps to Make It

Gather the ingredients. Heat oven to 425 F and line a baking sheet with parchment. Thaw the prepared refrigerated pie crust according to the package directions.

In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and ground cinnamon.

On a lightly floured surface, unroll the thawed pie crust.

Trim the edges to form an 8-inch square.

Brush with the melted butter.

Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over top, lightly pressing into the pie crust.

Cut the square into 8 (1-inch wide) strips.

Cut the apple into eight wedges.

Wrap one strip of the sliced pie crust around each wedge, placing the sugared side against the apple.

Place each wrapped apple wedge on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush the top of each with the remaining melted butter.

Sprinkle with granulated sugar. Bake 13 to 15 minutes or until the pie crust is golden brown.

Serve warm with caramel sauce for dipping, if desired.

Variations
- This recipe uses strips of prepared pie crust to wrap around apple wedges, but other ingredients could be used as well. Apple pie bites can be wrapped in puff pastry, refrigerated crescent roll dough, or even your favorite homemade pie crust. You can even use gluten-free pie crust.
- For added crunch, you can mix in a few tablespoons of finely chopped walnuts or pecans into the cinnamon and brown sugar mixture.
- Do you love melting a slice of cheddar cheese on top of your wedge of apple pie? A small strip of cheese can be melted on top of these apple pie bites as well. It's another way to enjoy that sweet and salty flavor combination in a bite-sized dessert.
- This recipe would also work with firm pears instead of apples, or other crisp-tart apples such as Honeycrisp, Fuji, and Pink Lady.
How to Store Apple Pie Bites
In the event that you have leftovers, store these bites at room temperature, covered, for up to 2 days.
For longer storage, freeze the bites on a baking sheet individually and then, once frozen, transfer them to a container or zip-close freezer bag. Defrost in the fridge or at room temperature, and reheat in a 350 F oven or the microwave until hot.
